I’m delighted to be delivering my first Bio Bulletin as Ag-West Bio’s new Director of Communications. I have contributed to many Bio Bulletins in the past, but never before as the managing editor. I’m glad to be here and am enjoying my learning curve in this new position. Big thanks to Jackie Robin for sticking around long enough to get me off on the right foot! I’m surrounded by wonderful, passionate people here at Ag-West Bio, and I’m grateful to be part of the team.

If I were to sum up this collection of articles in one word, the word I would use is ‘change’. We have events and initiatives that are focused on adapting to our changing world, new organizational identities, and researchers who are leveraging all the tools in an effort to keep up with the changes that are coming our way. We have new people joining our organization, and also people leaving to join other organizations in our ecosystem.

It is said that the only constant in life is change (I believe Heraclitus said that). I’m pleased to deliver to you a Bio Bulletin full of the only thing you can count on! I also hope that these articles make you feel the way they made me feel: comforted. Even with the current extreme levels of uncertainty, it is comforting to know that there are so many intelligent and dedicated people facing challenges and working to make things better.

Enjoy the long summer days – they’ll be gone before you know it!
