Later this summer, Saskatoon will once again play host to the international Pan American Light Sources for Agriculture (PALSA) conference. The event is intended to build awareness about the value of synchrotron light sources for agriculture and food research and to increase use of advanced imaging techniques by showcasing top research in this area. PALSA is targeted at agriculture and food research scientists and graduate students from around the world.
The conference was created in 2019 as a collaboration between the Canadian Light Source at the University of Saskatchewan, the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source in the US, and the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory. The three facilities identified agriculture as a strategic sector through which they could influence the global issue of food security; they take turns hosting the event every two years.
This year’s PALSA conference runs August 20-22 at the Remai Modern in Saskatoon and is expected to attract 100 participants. More information
