Agriculture and Climate Change: International perspectives on the role of research to reduce the sector's carbon footprint
April 28, 2021 - 9:30 - 11:00 am CST

In 2014, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimated that agriculture, forestry and other land uses contributed to 24% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Around the world, the growing push to move toward a net-zero economy and reverse the effects of climate change will result in Canada’s agriculture sector having to innovate to reduce its carbon footprint while remaining productive and competitive.

In this webinar, international experts will provide a fresh perspective on the role of research to achieve these goals. Moderated by AIC’s CEO, the panel discussion will help identify how research can contribute to solving this pressing challenge.

Panelists:

  • Dr. Zitouni Ould-Dada, Deputy Director for the Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment (Food and Agriculture Organization)
  • Dr. Claudia Ringler, Deputy Division Director Environment and Production Technology Division (International Food Policy Research Institute)
  • Dr. Sally Rockey, Executive Director (Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research)
