The Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre Inc. (Food Centre) is a not-for-profit organization and is a leader in providing expertise and resources to the agri-food industry in Saskatchewan.   Our expertise include ingredient and product development, inspected incubation facilities, pulse innovation through extrusion, food safety training, and pathfinding.  The Food Centre operates a 10,000 sq. ft. interim processing facility on the U of S Campus and a 43,000 sq. ft facility on Schuyler Street.  These two manufacturing facilities are Saskatchewan's only commercial incubation centre for food processing. They are certified and inspected to allow agri-businesses to access local and export markets.  The Food Centre's extrusion technology is also unique to Saskatchewan. This technology utilizes agricultural based products such as cereals, pulses and proteins to develop and test market consumer foods to ingredients and biodegradable biopolymers. By building on the province's renewable resources, sectors such as the bio-fuels and feed industries can explore opportunities in byproduct utilization and the development of bioplastics using extrusion technology.
