Company Information:
Aduro Energy is a private Canadian technology company that develops hydrothermal upgrading processing, a unique, low-temperature water-based chemistry approach to changing both the chemical and physical structure of a variety of low-value hydrocarbons into high-performance fuels and chemicals. Aduro Energy (Æ) Hydrothermal Upgrading technology (HTU™) is the result of six years of intense laboratory research that was initially directed to unlocking the value of heavy crude oil. This technology, originally developed by the company’s chief technology officer and lead scientist, enabled a completely fresh look at the chemistry and treatments of waste hydrocarbons. Aduro Energy’s patent-pending Thermo-Catalytic Deoxygenation technology (TCD) offers the possibility to transform vegetable oils and other fatty acid glyceryl esters into drop-in biojet fuel that meets the specifications of the Hydro-processed Esters and Fatty Acids Synthetic Paraffinic Kerosene (HEFA-SPK) process. Technically, the process can handle any lipids irrespective of the free fatty acid content. Aduro Energy is located at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park in Sarnia, Ontario. The company intends to build its heavy oil upgrading pilot plant at this location. The company plans to build its TCD pilot at Biodiesel site in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan.
