Director of Agri-Food Technology

Ag-West Bio is Saskatchewan’s bioscience industry association. We act as a catalyst to move research to market and grow biobusiness in the province. We support technology commercialization in the areas of sustainable crop production, health, environment, bioproducts and value-added food processing. We aid strategic alliances, provide seed capital for early-stage businesses. Our events help create connections and build community.
 
Saskatchewan has a large and dynamic agri-food cluster. We are looking for someone who can take it to the next level! 
 
Reporting to the president and CEO, the Director of Agri-Food Technology will be a team player who can develop partnerships, foster the growth of local businesses, and recruit new companies to Saskatchewan. Working closely with provincial and federal agencies and industry partners, this individual will communicate the benefits of value-added business in Saskatchewan and build the province’s agri-food cluster brand.
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Create strategic initiatives with government departments and the private sector at the provincial, federal and global level 
  • Provide leadership to create a pipeline of small and medium-sized enterprises to Ag-West Bio’s commercialization and entrepreneurial training programs
  • Leverage existing Ag-West Bio programs to enhance other public and private agri-food programs 
  • Identify, develop and prepare project proposals 
  • Develop and maintain relationships within the community
  • Keep abreast of existing programs to identify synergies and opportunities
  • Communicate the programs available to support business 
 
You:
  • have a post-secondary degree, preferably in a science related field 
  • understand the agriculture, science and agri-food sectors
  • are passionate about Saskatchewan and developing the local economy
  • are familiar with small business requirements
  • have experience working with government agencies
  • have experience in developing economic support programs (science and/or business)
  • are self-motivated and a creative thinker
  • have a dynamic personality and strong people skills
  • communicate well and can make technical language easy to read
