Ag-West Bio announced today that Saskatchewan will have a strong presence at the 2014 BIO International Convention, in San Diego. The Saskatchewan Biosciences Booth will highlight innovations in agriculture and health, such as plant-made pharmaceuticals and surgical materials.

With over 100 years of history in agricultural science, Saskatchewan is known as an agbiotech leader. In addition, it has extended that innovation into the development of bio-based technologies which are being used to create green chemicals, biofuels and other sustainable bioproducts.

Attendees are invited to attend the Opening of Canada Place on Tuesday, June 24th at 10am PDT, as well as the annual Gold Leaf Awards presentation at 4pm PDT, where Agrisoma Biosciences, a Saskatoon-based company will be accepting the Gold Leaf Business of the Year Award.

The Biotech Innovation Competition Showcase will take place on Wednesday, June 25th at 10am PDT. Presenters are chosen by Regional Accord Members, and the winner will receive a pass to BIOTECanada Whistler 2015 Investor Summit. “Our Government is proud to support Ag-West Bio in raising international awareness of our growing biotechnology sector. We look forward to the development of new trade and investment opportunities for western Canadian companies, while showcasing the advanced research and technology developed by this burgeoning sector,” said the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification.
